Another Kind of Silence

Direct from the Edinburgh Fringe, the sounds and life of the true story of Rachel Carson come alive as she takes on the chemical industry against all the odds.

Rachel Carson published Silent Spring back in 1962 – the first telling of the horrors unleashed on the natural world of such ‘wonder sprays’ such as DDT. Little did the chemical companies know that Rachel battled them whilst she was fighting her own battle against cancer.

Simply and powerfully performed, this is a show of beauty and authority. Rachel Carson’s discoveries remain as relevant and urgent as they were in 1962, and her personal and professional struggles to finish her research make a compelling narrative, compellingly told.
